Update: Chris Vivlamore of the AJC reports that Prince’s absence comes as a result of a hold-up in the trade involving Jeff Teague, which isn’t official at this point, leaving Prince unable to practice with the team. Stay tuned.

Taurean Prince, who was selected with the number 12 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, will not make his professional debut on Friday.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution brings word that Prince will be absent for the Atlanta Hawks in the team’s Summer League opener against the Houston Rockets.

Prince was acquired as part of the trade involving Jeff Teague and George Hill, and the former Baylor combo forward is one of the more intriguing pieces of Atlanta’s future. It remains to be seen as to what the Summer League rotation will resemble for the Hawks under Taylor Jenkins, but given Prince’s status as a lottery pick, he is expected to play considerable minutes once assuming a place the floor for the first time.

Stay tuned throughout the evening for more updates from Atlanta’s opener, and throughout the week for every piece of the action from Las Vegas.
