Fresh off of a huge upset win over the Los Angeles Sparks, the Atlanta Dream hit the road for another matchup against a WNBA power in the Minnesota Lynx.

The Dream denied the Sparks the best start in WNBA history with a 91-74 win at Philips Arena. Atlanta used a balanced offensive attack and a stingy defense to slow down the best team in the league. Angel McCoughtry and Layshia Clarendon led the way with 17 points each while Bria Holmes added 15.

Atlanta will face another tall task on Wednesday in the Lynx who are 19-4 on the season and riding a four-game winning streak. Maya Moore scored 20 points on Sunday as Minnesota held off Dallas for a 98-97 win.

The Dream kept things close early back in early June but were outscored 64-33 in the second half of a 110-78 loss. Moore led six Minnesota players in double figures with 19 points. Tiffany Hayes led Atlanta with 23.

Atlanta has two games remaining before the WNBA shuts down for a month due to the Olympics. They are currently 12-11 and in fourth place in the league’s revamped playoff picture. The Dream will close out the first half of the season Friday night at home against Dallas.
