The latest piece of news coming between the Atlanta Hawks and Al Horford, is that the team has upped its offer, and added a 5th year to the contract, according to WSBTV’s Zach Klein.
It has been long reported that Horford wanted the 5th year on his contract, but Klein also reports that the deal is not a max contract. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported as much late last night.
Klein reported earlier this morning that Horford was not happy with the Hawks signing Howard, and with the Wizards and Celtics in hot pursuit of the free agent center, that might not go over so well.
Either way, we will find out tonight what the future holds, as Horford is expected to make his decision before the end of the day, as reported earlier by the AJC’s Chris Vivlamore. Right now, things aren’t looking too great for the Hawks, but time will tell.
UPDATE
Vertical Sources: Hawks still shopping Paul Millsap now, working contingencies should Horford want to stay. Sides still apart on contract.
