Al Horford to make free agency decision by tonight, per report

The longtime Hawks center could be out of town tonight.

After a hectic first day of NBA free agency, we should hear one more splash in relation to the Atlanta Hawks Saturday night.

Al Horford is expected to make his decision on where he will play basketball next season tonight, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Chris Vivlamore. Vivlamore reports that on top of the decision being made tonight, the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards currently lead the sweepstakes in signing Horford.

From Vivlamore:

There remains a possibility that Horford could return to the Hawks — even after the free-agent signings of Dwight Howard and Kent Bazemore - but the Celtics and Wizards are currently the leaders for the services of the four-time All-Star.

The Hawks made a "very significant" offer to Horford on Friday, the first day of NBA free agency. However, based on the Hawks’ current salary-cap situation, he cannot agree to it at this point. Whether that offer still stands is unknown.

Vivlamore also adds that Horford has informed the Hawks of his intention to make a decision tonight.

But it’s not looking so great for the Hawks.
