When the Atlanta Hawks selected DeAndre Bembry with the No. 21 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, it was largely billed as a “safe” pick. After all, Bembry was a veteran college player with a reputation for high-end basketball IQ and passing ability and a pension for doing just about everything well.
However, Bembry is a monster athlete and he happened to put that fact on full display with a massive dunk over Sacramento’s Willie Cauley-Stein on Wednesday afternoon.

The dunk took place with only four minutes to go in the game and the score very much decided, but that doesn’t diminish from the entertainment value. DeAndre Bembry can really jump and his athleticism and explosiveness should be fun to monitor in the coming years.
Oh, did I mention that Willie Cauley-Stein is one of the better young rim protectors in the NBA today? That fact might be important, too.
