Jeff Teague has been in the news during the off-season, as a report surfaced that the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers were discussing a swap that involved the veteran point guard in exchange for Nerlens Noel. Now, though, Teague is breaking his own news, as he took to Instagram to reveal that he played on a torn patella tendon during the 2015-2016 season.
This is, of course, huge news for the soon-to-be 28-year-old point guard, as Teague is set to enter a contract year in 2016-2017 in addition to the trade rumors. Teague struggled in many aspects during the 2015-2016 season, taking a sizable step back from his breakout, All-Star season in 2014-2015, but he did manage to shoot 40% from beyond the three-point line, which helped Teague to maintain real value offensively. Still, his defensive regression and overall downgrade were undeniable, and this ailment could help to explain those issues.
Following the initial news, Teague posted concerning his rehab process following the injury. (Update: Original post has been deleted. It referenced Teague laying on a table having physical therapy with the caption of "9 am pt every morning")
As referenced by Jeff Teague in the initial post, this injury has not been publicly discussed by the team or anyone else prior to this revelation. Still, the player knows his body better than anyone else, and Teague is not being shy about letting the world know that he was limited during last season.
Stay tuned for additional details as they become available, but this could also impact any pending trade negotiations involving Teague.
