Dennis Schroder will report to training camp with the German national team on August 4 and will take part in the Eurobasket qualifying tournament. Germany missed out on securing an Olympic bid for the 2016 games in Brazil but are already focused on landing a spot in 2020.
With Dirk Nowitzki now retired from international competition, Schroder will be looked at for leadership for the German team. Schroder averaged 21 points and 6.0 assists in five games at the Eurobasket competition. Germany went just 1-4 at the 2015 Eurobasket with all four losses by seven points or less.
Schroder credited his experience with the national team as helping his confidence. He may be in line for a major step forward next season for the Hawks as trade rumors continue to swirl around starting point guard Jeff Teague.
