With the No. 21 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks selected DeAndre Bembry. He was their first official pick of the draft, after the Utah Jazz selected Taurean Prince with the No. 12 pick, which is set to go to the Hawks in the trade that sent Jeff Teague to Indiana.
Bembry is a forward out of St. Joe's, and had been projected to the Hawks at this spot before by Chad Ford. He's a versatile forward who finishes at the basket, but is lacking a jumpshot. He's a great, athletic, well-rounded player that could be a good addition to the Hawks and Mike Budenholzer's system if developed properly.
He had a good combine, and should fit in early in Atlanta. He's not the flashiest player, but he's yet another piece that the Hawks have added that they needed going into tonight.
The later picks in this particular draft are much less guaranteed to have long term success, but Hawks fans should have hope in Bembry.
