The free agency buzz hasn’t quite shifted into high gear yet but teams are making preparations for what will be a wild month of July. The Atlanta Hawks figure to be at the forefront of a lot of that with two key players in Al Horford and Kent Bazemore hitting the open market. Horford in particular figures to be one of the most sought after free agents available this summer.
ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reports that the Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams that intend to make a run at Horford.

Orlando made news last summer when they were one of the first teams to offer Paul Millsap a max deal. Horford would be an interesting pairing alongside Detroit’s Andre Drummond and the Lakers are perpetually an appealing destination for free agents and are looking to return to relevance.
Still it is the Hawks that have the inside track to keeping Horford due to familiarity and their ability to offer a longer and more lucrative contract than any other team. However, the price tag will be high as more and more teams join the chase.
