The Atlanta Hawks announced Thursday afternoon that Jeff Peterson would be promoted to assistant general manager. GM Wes Wilcox made the announcement of the promotion, which will have Peterson participating in all areas of day-to-day management of the team and continue to oversee the Hawks scouting process.
Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
"Jeff has been an integral part of our front office over the past few seasons. In that time, he has demonstrated the ability to identify players who fit our culture and system; build meaningful relationship across the world of basketball; while continuing to learn the complexities of team-building in the NBA," Wilcox said. "Jeff has a bright future in the NBA and we would like to congratulate Jeff on this opportunity."
This isn't Peterson's first climb up the totem pole. He was promoted to Director of Scouting before the 2015-16 season, and before that, he was a Scout and Coordinator of Basketball Operations for the Hawks.
