The Atlanta Dream return to Philips Arena Friday night for an Eastern Conference matchup against Elena Delle Donne and the Chicago Sky. The Dream enter the game with a half game lead in the East Standings over the New York Liberty. Atlanta snapped a two-game losing streak last time out with a 93-87 win over the Connecticut Sun.
Atlanta snapped a three-game losing streak against the Sky with an 87-81 win at Philips Arena back on May 22. Angel McCoughtry led the way with 21 points while Layshia Clarendon added 15. The additions of Clarendon and center Elizabeth Williams have played a huge part in the Dream’s resurgence this season. Williams is leading the WNBA in blocks and has scored in double figures in six of the last eight games. She logged her first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s win over Connecticut.
The Dream will be without forward Sancho Lyttle again on Friday while she is away playing with the Spanish National team in an Olympic Qualifying tournament. Reshanda Gray is expected to make her third start of the season in place of Lyttle.
The Sky have dropped two straight and are currently 5-6 on the season and in third place in the East Standings. Chicago is coming off of a 98-85 loss to the L.A. Sparks on Tuesday.
