Dream take down Fever 85-76, improve to 5-1

Angel McCoughtry scored a game-high 22 points as the Atlanta Dream improved to 5-1 with an 85-76 win over the Indiana Fever.

Angel McCoughtry scored a game-high 22 points as the Atlanta Dream knocked off the Indiana Fever 85-76 for their fourth straight win. The victory improves Atlanta's record to 5-1 and gave them a two game edge over the rest of the Eastern Conference.

The Dream came out of the gates quickly jumping out to a 22-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Atlanta poured it on to start the second and led by as many as 18 points before Indiana fought back to a 43-33 mark at the half.

The Fever made a charge in the third and took a 55-54 lead on a layup by Natalie Achonwa with 3:18 remaining. McCoughtry put Atlanta back in front on their next possession and the Dream would not trail again as they pulled away in the fourth.

McCoughtry led all scorers with 22 points on 8 of 18 shooting. Layshia Clarendon added 17 while Tiffany Hayes finished with 13. Erica Wheeler led the Fever with a career-high 18 points. Tamika Catchings finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Atlanta shot 44 percent from the field for the game and turned the ball over just 12 times.

The Dream won't play again until Friday when they travel to Connecticut to take on the Sun. They are back at home on Sunday when they open a four-game homestand against the Washington Mystics.
