The Atlanta Hawks continue their western road trip Tuesday night with a stop in Utah to face the Jazz. The Hawks have won four of their last five games including two straight on the trip, a back-to-back sweep of the Lakers and Clippers at Staples Center. The only loss over that span came in overtime to the Golden State Warriors.
Atlanta can clinch a winning mark on the trip with a win on Tuesday and the time is now if they want to keep pace in the East standings. The Hawks enter play on Tuesday in fifth place in the conference two games behind the Miami Heat and with a half game lead over the Charlotte Hornets. With just 19 games remaining in the season, Atlanta needs to take care of every opportunity they have the rest of the way.
Utah has spent most of the season right in the thick of things in the Western Conference but a recent five-game losing streak has them currently on the outside looking in. Derrick Favors poured in 28 points and 11 rebounds to help snap the losing streak Saturday against New Orleans. However, the Jazz have lost 7 of 10 and are currently ninth in the West standings.
The Hawks will see a familiar face in Tuesday's game as Shelvin Mack is expected to start for the Jazz at point guard. Mack has played in eight games with Utah since he was acquired at the trade deadline from the Hawks and is averaging 11.3 points and 3.8 assists in 28 minutes of action since joining the team.
