Hawks vs. Bulls preview: Hawks look to stay hot against reeling Bulls

The Atlanta Hawks travel to Chicago to take on a Bulls team that's been struggling of late.

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks have now won three straight after a loss to the Washington Wizards, and eight of their past nine games, as they head into Chicago Monday night to take on the Bulls. Chicago, unlike Atlanta, has been struggling recently, dropping a home-and-home with the New York Knicks, with their most recent loss coming against the Orlando Magic.

Atlanta is 3-0 on the year against the Bulls, and can sweep the season series with a win on Monday night. The Hawks are coming off of a good road victory against the Pistons, where Paul Millsap had 23 points and nine rebounds. Jeff Teague also had a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists, and was left at the arena by the team. Dennis Schröder continued his good play off the bench with 11 points and seven assists.

The Bulls are desperate for a win, clinging on to slim playoff hopes. The last time these two teams played, Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler both did not play, which led to 20 points off the bench from Doug McDermott. This time around, Rose and Butler will be available, but for a number of reasons, the Bulls have not been able to put it together on the floor.

Chicago reportedly had a meeting to clear the air after their most recent loss to the Orlando Magic. To see how the team will come out and react after a string of bad losses, and going up against a hot Hawks team will be something to look for.

The game means a lot for both teams. As mentioned, the Bulls are fighting for a playoff spot. The Hawks have little to worry about, as they can clinch a playoff spot tonight, but they are still in a crucial battle for seeding. As of right now, they stand third in the conference, but are a few games away from possibly being sixth. To finish the season strong will be important for both teams, so expect to see a good game here.
