1). The National Basketball Association and the National Basketball Players Association has reached a tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement that will reportedly last for seven years. Yay! Thankfully they made it more difficult for teams like the Golden State Warriors to build “Super Teams” and maybe why the Warriors Draymond Green isn’t happy about it
One day we will get it right.... maybe— Draymond Green (@Money23Green) December 15, 2016
2). Last season the Atlanta Hawks finished 29th in team rebounding rate finishing at 47.3 percent. Currently the Hawks have a 51 percent rebounding rate that is good for 8th place in the NBA. That’s quite a jump but where did it come from.
Last season the Hawks averaged 34 defensive rebounds a game; this season they are averaging 33.8 on the defensive end of the floor……offensive rebounds are another matter altogether; last season the Hawks finished dead last in the NBA with 8.3 offensive rebounds a game; this season the Hawks average 10.4 offensive rebounds good for 13th in the league.
3). If the season ended today the New York Knicks would be the third seed in the Eastern Conference and plays like the one below are one of the reasons why;
4). This past week we heard a bunch of opinions in regards to NBA teams giving players “resting” on road games on either the front or backend of back-to-back games. Here’s my take;
I get the idea of resting players towards the end of the regular season. What I don’t understand is why teams are doing so in December. If I had purchased a ticket to Wednesday nights Memphis Grizzlies Cleveland Cavaliers game hoping to watch my Grizzlies AND LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love I would have been ticked off. Had I purchased a ticket to Tuesday night’s game with the Cleveland Cavaliers Memphis Grizzlies hoping to watch my Cavs play AND Marc Gasol play I would have also been mad.
There is a simple solution to all this; shorten the regular season and eliminate back to back games. It would be very easy to do and the players would love this idea and everyone wins otherwise we will continue to have scenarios like the one this past Tuesday/Wednesday and everyone wins except the fans.
5). Toronto Raptors SF DeMarre Carroll has seen his numbers drop since his days with the Atlanta Hawks; injuries have played their part so from time to time it’s nice when I see Carroll do this
6). The Phoenix Suns have had a difficult season but watching Suns PG Eric Bledsoe is always fun
7). Houston Rockets SG James Harden is having an MVP type season but over the past week the one more resembling the reigning MVP Stephen Curry is Harden’s teammate Eric Gordon. Over the past five games Gordon is knocking down five triples a night……like this one against Sacramento.
8). Grizzlies C Marc Gasol shooting threes? While it may be a new thing for NBA fans to see it appears that Gasol has been showing his range in practice for quite some time…..and maybe why the Grizzlies fired former Head Coach Dave Joerger after last season.
9). Put it on a poster Larry Nance Jr!!!!
10). I really like the way Malcolm Delaney plays basketball
