Atlanta’s rookie wing will be back soon enough.

Mike Scott returned from a two-game stint in the NBA D-League on Friday and, hours later, it appears that the Atlanta Hawks will, once again, make use of the developmental process. Following a comeback win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Chris Reichert of The Step Back reported that DeAndre Bembry would be sent back to the Salt Lake City Stars on Saturday.

Shortly after, Chris Vivlamore of the AJC brought word that Bembry’s stint would include only one game, as the Stars face off against the Sioux Falls Skyforce (500 miles from Milwaukee) on Sunday at 6:00 pm ET. That leaves plenty of time for the rookie from St. Joseph’s return to Atlanta in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Orlando Magic.

In his last visit, Bembry strung together a 35-point outburst and Mike Budenholzer has been vocal about the positives to receiving real on-court time as a young player. With Kent Bazemore set to likely return on Tuesday and Scott already back, the Hawks will have a full array of wing options, leaving Bembry as a likely inactive alongside Tiago Splitter. Utilizing him in the D-League is a wise choice, especially in a one-off situation such as this.

Stay tuned.
