Ten Things About the NBA: The Week Five Edition

Phil has ten things he wants you to know from week five of the NBA season

). Sleeping on the Atlanta Hawks is something many in the media are guilty of; but if you are stunned by what Malcom Delaney is currently doing then you need Kris Willis and I to enlighten you.

)The Portland Trail Blazers are awful defensively but Wednesday night Cleveland Cavaliers PF Kevin Love made them look like the Washington Generals. Watch all 34 of Love’s first quarter points

). For those who thought it would take a while for Kevin Durant to fit in with the Golden State Warriors; they are on a nine game winning streak, are first in the NBA in offensive efficiency and first in assists INCLUDING 47 assists on 53 made baskets against the Lakers. I’d say all is well offensively in the Bay area.

). More Warriors. Remember all the folks who said the Warriors would be in trouble because they lacked rim protection? Currently the Warriors are fourth in the NBA in blocked shots with 6.1 a game. Leading the way is Draymond Green with 1.67 blocks a game and Durant is second on the team with 1.27 a game.

). Sometimes trusting the “process” isn’t the easiest thing to do……watch Philadelphia 76ers Center Joel Embiid drop kick a chair after another painful loss snapped their two game winning streak.

). If the regular season were to end today who would be the MVP? Russell Westbrook? James Harden? Kevin Durant? Maybe……but the current Real Plus- Minus leader in the NBA is none other than the Los Angeles Clippers Chris Paul and it isn’t even close.

). The National Basketball Association and the National Basketball Players Association have until the 15th of December to opt out of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement and it looks really promising that a new deal will get done to avoid another lockout. I don’t know about you but if there’s another lockout I am done with the NBA.

). The NBA Slam Dunk contest isn’t for a couple more months but Minnesota Timberwolves Zach Levine is definitely ready as this dunk will attest to!

). If that dunk above didn’t get you excited maybe this one on the New Orleans Pelicans Dante Cunningham might.

). Los Angeles Lakers Guard Nick Young is having quite the start to his season including this game winner against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Good for you Swaggy P!
