The Atlanta Hawks look to get back on track Sunday when they travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks.
Atlanta saw their six-game winning streak come to an end on Friday with a 100-96 loss in Charlotte. Atlanta led 89-86 with just over five minutes remaining in the game when Dwight Howard was ejected for an elbow to the jaw of Charlotte's Cody Zeller. The Hornets responded with a 9-0 run to take the lead and end Atlanta's streak.
Howard returned to the court on Friday after sitting out one game due to a bruised quad. Thabo Sefolosha has missed the last two games for Atlanta with what is being called a mild knee sprain. Sefolosha is listed as "questionable" on Sunday and his status likely won't be updated until shortly before tipoff.
The Knicks come into the game as somewhat of an enigma at 5-7. New York brought in several big name players this past summer but the fit hasn't been there on a consistent basis. Carmelo Anthony leads the team scoring over 22 points per night.
They present an interesting matchup for Atlanta due to their length. Kristaps Porzingis is averaging a career-best 20.3 points per game in his second season at the power forward position. Anthony is a big small forward and will be a handful for Kent Bazemore, especially if Sefolosha is unable to play. Of course, Porzingis and Anthony will also have to contend with Bazemore and Paul Millsap at the other end of the floor as well.
Six of Atlanta's next seven games will be played away from Philips Arena. Tip off is set for 12 p.m. ET and can be seen on Fox Sports Southeast.
