Atlanta Hawks Season Predictions: Who will be the team’s best player?

This one is unanimous.

This roundtable question ended up being unanimous but it is the one that I am the most confident that will be correct.

Who will be the Atlanta Hawks’ best player this season?

Phil Naessens: Paul Millsap because he IS the best player on this team

Kris Willis: If things go well, most will say the answer to this question is Dwight Howard. However, the correct answer is Paul Millsap. Millsap came to Atlanta and blossomed into a Top 15 player in the league. He is irreplaceable to this team on both ends of the floor.

Brad Rowland: Paul Millsap and it isn’t particularly close. Dwight Howard is more famous and, at his peak (in Orlando), he was a top-3 player in the NBA. However, that player no longer exists (even if things work out perfectly) and Millsap was one of the 15 best players in the NBA last season.

Glen Willis: Paul Millsap. He is one of the very best two-way players across the entire league.

Thomas Jenkins: Paul Millsap. He started to creep into the top-15 in NBA player lists this offseason, and that is completely warranted. He’s definitely in the top three at his position, and his versatility and defense make him invaluable to the team. Even though Millsap is starting to get old, I’d be shocked if he slips far enough to not be this team’s best player anymore.

Chris Herbert: Dwight How…just kidding, the answer is Paul Millsap. Millsap is a dominant two way big who keeps improving in Atlanta.

Josh Lane: Paul Millsap….next question.

Jason Walker: I’d like to say that Dwight still has peaks in certain areas that Paul can’t touch, but there’s no question the best all-around guy is Millsap.

Harry Lyles Jr.: Paul Millsap. He’s one of the most under-appreciated and underrated players in the league.

Tyler Duke: Millsap, and it shouldn’t be too close. The Hawks need Howard to be a top-25 player to avoid much of a dropoff, but Millsap is a top-15 player as of right now -- and one of the best two-way players in the league.
