The Atlanta Hawks wrap up the 2016 preseason in an interesting way on Thursday evening, as Mike Budenholzer and company travel to Omaha to take on the Chicago Bulls. While Omaha may seem like a strange place for an NBA game, the contest will take place at Creighton University, which happens to be where both Kyle Korver and Chicago’s Doug McDermott played college basketball.
Synergy.
At any rate, Atlanta is expected to deploy a regular rotation in the preseason finale (per Chris Vivlamore of the AJC) and that adds another layer of intrigue. The Hawks were dominant on Tuesday when the starters (and even high-end backups) were on the floor, but this is a step up in competition after taking on a depleted Pelicans team at Philips Arena.
For the second straight game, there is plenty to monitor, including what the rotation looks like and how Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard and Dennis Schröder blend together. It is never safe to take too much away from a preseason game, but nevertheless, keeping tabs on the finale should provide at least some window into what we can expect next week against the Wizards in the regular season opener.
Stay tuned throughout the evening for the latest, especially given the fact that the class between the Hawks and Bulls is not available on local TV or radio in Atlanta.
