Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer underwent surgery for a broken finger on his right hand and, as a result, the 2014-2015 NBA Coach of the Year was coaching on Tuesday evening while displaying a cast. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only issue for Budenholzer, as he was trampled in the latter stages of the second quarter by a New Orleans Pelicans guard Langston Galloway.
Budenholzer was seen by trainers on the Hawks bench before quickly moving to the locker room and, in the aftermath of the incident, Hawks PR indicated that he would not be returning to the bench for the second half. On the positive side, Atlanta’s head coach apparently did not suffer any additional injuries, but this was a brutal sequence of events for Budenholzer.
Players are usually the source of worry when it comes to avoiding preseason injury but, on Tuesday, it was actually a man in a suit that suffered the greatest ailment.
