The Hawks have yet to officially announce the move and likely won't until they know where Tavares is headed via the NBA's flexible assignment rule.
Tavares has played in seven games with the Austin Spurs and two with the Canton Charge so far this season. He is averaging 10.9 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks 22.8 minutes per game.
Tavares has appeared in eight games with the Hawks this season and is averaging 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds. He played four first-half minutes in Saturday's loss in Phoenix.
The Hawks return home from a four-game road trip Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers. They head right back out on the road after the game where they will take on Indiana on Thursday. They follow that up with a game in Miami on Sunday.
Update
Edy Tavares' D-League stint will be in Austin and is expected to be a short stay, possibly two games.
