The Atlanta Hawks hope that a little home cooking will be the fix for what is ailing them. Things appeared to be headed in the right direction a week ago when the Hawks snapped Chicago's six-game winning streak with a solid performance at Philips Arena. Things fell apart quickly as they were blown out in Charlotte on Wednesday and then suffered a hard-fought overtime loss in Milwaukee on Friday.
Atlanta was barely competitive against the Hornets but led for most of the game against the Bucks before faltering late as foul trouble mounted. Paul Millsap fouled out in the fourth quarter and was joined by Kent Bazemore 41 seconds into the overtime session. Milwaukee used a late 11-2 run to secure the win and send Atlanta to their second-straight loss.
It was a turbulent week for the Brooklyn Nets as well as they fired head coach Lionel Hollins and reassigned general manager Billy King. Brooklyn came out flat in a lopsided loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday but rallied to defeat the New York Knicks on Wednesday. The Bucks dropped a 116-104 decision to the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Friday despite 25 points from center Brook Lopez.
Saturday's game will be the third and final meeting between the two teams this season. The home team was victorious in each of the first two meetings. Atlanta cruised to a 101-87 win back on November 4 but Brooklyn got revenge 10 days later with a 90-88 win.
