It is on to the second round for Kenny Atkinson and the Dominican Republic as they are one of eight teams advancing at the 2015 FIBA Amercas Championship.
The Dominican Republic dropped each of its first two games, but battled back to win its final two and secured a spot in the second round. They wrapped up first round play on Thursday with a 90-70 win over Uruguay. James Feldeine led the Dominican Republic with 15 points while Eulis Baez added seven rebounds and seven assists.

Brazil was eliminated from Group A but will still be headed to the Olympics in 2016 as the host nation. With an Olympic birth already in hand, most of their regular players, like Hawks center Tiago Splitter, opted to sit out the FIBA Americas.
