Dominican Republic defeats Panama to capture first win at FIBA Americas

Kenny Atkinson's Dominican Republic team captured its first win on Wednesday defeating Panama 83-66

The Dominican Republic finally broke through on Wednesday and captured their first victory at the 2015 FIBA Americas championship with an 83-66 win over Panama. The game was a back and forth contest with the Dominicans slamming the door in the fourth quarter behind a 19-5 run to end the game.

James Feldeine led the way with 16 points and five assists while Edgar Sosa added 11 points and six assists. Jose Lloreda led Panama with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The win improves the prospects of the Dominican Republic advancing to the second substantially. They currently sit in second place of the Group A standings thanks to the total points tie breaker. Here is a look at the current standings heading into play on Thursday:
