Jeff Teague checks in at No. 43 on SLAM's Top 50 list

Jeff Teague cracks SLAM's Top 50 countdown of the best NBA players for the first time in his six-year career.

Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague cracked SLAM's Top 50 NBA players countdown for the first time in his career coming in at No. 43.

Unfortunately, "almost" won't get the Hawks out from under the city's merciless cloud of flops, underachievements and one-year wonders. For that to happen, the Teague we saw in the East finals is the same Teague we have to see during the regular season.

Jeff's on the SLAM Top 50 list for the first time in his six-year career because we feel he's ready to do just that. Blessed with speed, strength and the slithery nature of a death adder, Jeff has the tools to consistently bite opponents in the ass. Because he's pretty damn smart, he also knows the best time to cross over Matthew Dellavedova or dish it off to Kyle Korver.

Teague earned his first trip to the All-Star Game in 2015 and was a major factor in Atlanta's surge to 60 wins and capturing of the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. While expectations will go up again this season, Teague's career appears to be on an upward trajectory and many Hawks fans are hoping that continues.

Teague also saw a significant bump in his NBA2K16 ratings jumping into the Top 10 among point guards with an 83 rating.
