Atlanta Hawks legend Dikembe Mutombo is part of an 11 member class that will be enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday, September 11.

Dikembe Mutombo will be enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday. Mutombo is one of 11 new members including Spencer Haywood, WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, Kentucky head coach John Calipari and longtime NBA official Dick Bevetta.

The event will take place at Springfield Symphony Hall in Springfield, Massachusets and will get underway at 6:30 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast live on NBA TV and can be seen online at NBA.com.

Mutombo spent parts of five seasons with the Hawks from 1996-2001. He played in just under 1,200 games during his career while averaging 9.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. Mutombo's career total of 3,289 blocks is second most in the NBA all time.

Mutombo earned Defensive Player of the Year honors while playing for the Hawks during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He averaged a league best 14.1 rebounds for Atlanta in 2000.

The Atlanta Hawks recently announced plans to retire Mutombo's No. 55 in a ceremony to be held on November 24.
