The Atlanta Hawks got a win in the Las Vegas Summer League with a 71-70 victory over the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors missed a three pointer with 0.9 seconds remaining in the game for the Hawks to hold on to the victory.
Glenn Robinson III finished his Hawks debut with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. He was the co-leading scorer along with Stephen Holt. Robinson, who finished last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, joined the Hawks three days ago as a late add to the summer league team.
The game started off slow for both teams leaving the score at the end of the first with the Warriors leading 15 to 14. James Michael McAdoo had eight of the Warriors fifteen in the first quarter. McAdoo finished with 17 for the Warriors. The Hawks offense picked up in the second quarter with Terran Petteway and Trey McKinney-Jones hitting threes in the second quarter.
The third quarter was all Golden State as they led the entire quarter after regaining the lead with 9:16 to go in the third. McAdoo led the Warriors with 17 points and Ognjen Kuzmic also had 11 rebounds.
The game was back and forth for the fourth quarter. The Warriors went on a 12-6 spurt to regain the lead 70-68 with 57.1 seconds left in the game. But Holt answered with a running one-hander in the lane to pull Atlanta even at 70 with 42 seconds to go. Aaron Craft then turned it over the following possession and Robinson III was fouled with 25.3 remaining. He made one of two free throws to put Atlanta back in front, 71-70. Atlanta had an opportunity to extend the league with 11 seconds remaining but Lamar Patterson missed both free throws.
The Hawks will return to action at 6:00 pm ET against the D-League Select on Monday at the Cox Pavilion.
