2015 NBA Mock Draft: CBS Sports projects Bobby Portis to the Atlanta Hawks

CBS Sports' Sam Vecenie projects Arkansas forward Bobby Portis to the Atlanta Hawks at No. 15.

Arkansas forward Bobby Portis continues to be tied to the Atlanta Hawks in various mock ups of the June 25th event. CBS Sports' Sam Vecenie is the latest writer to project Portis to the Hawks with the 15th pick of the first round.

Bobby Portis, PF, Arkansas: Paul Millsap and Pero Antic are both free agents, as well as DeMarre Carroll and Elton Brand. Plus, Mike Scott's production stumbled down the stretch in the playoffs, so it might make sense to supplement what they have already in Portis, a player that should fit their scheme perfectly as a guy who can shoot away from the hoop. Portis is a totally unselfish player that might be able to make an impact in his rookie season due to his intensity and high motor, as well as his skill level.

Portis is a guy that we touched on earlier. He has a good motor and is the type of competitor that the Hawks like. He is an intriguing offensive player with a good mid-range jump shot that would fit well in Atlanta's space and pace philosophy. He is not a bad one-on-one defender, but most importantly has room to grow on that end of the floor.

As Vecenie mentions, Atlanta's front court could be a bit unsettled due to the free agency status of Paul Millsap, Elton Brand and Pero Antic. He also mentions Mike Scott who is entering the second year of a three year deal. Scott's contract includes a team option on the third year so he is among the players that could be shopped if the Hawks need to clear up a bit of salary.

The draft is two weeks away so stay tuned for more updates.
