Not surprising news, but Wizards head coach Randy Wittman confirmed that point guard John Wall won't play in Game 3. The loss of Wall is a big blow for Washington who will start Ramon Sessions at the point for the second straight game. Wittman wasn't willing to comment on Wall's status for the remainder of the series.
"He just won't play tonight," Wittman stated. "That's all we're going to say."
Wall suffered the injury on a drive to the basket in Game 1. The injury was initially diagnosed as a severe sprain, but additional X-Rays later revealed five non-displaced fractures. Wall has been dealing with major swelling and could be a long shot to return to the court for Washington this season.
For the Hawks, it doesn't change much in terms of their preparation. Sessions was very effective in Game 2 scoring 21 points and four assists. He is likely to be hard pressed to maintain that type of production in Wall's absence
