No structural damage for DeMarre Carroll's knee

UPDATE #2: Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports that DeMarre Carroll has suffered a bone bruise, and his report aligns with the previous notion that Carroll could be day-to-day.

Rumors are to be expected in advance of MRI results on Atlanta Hawks small forward DeMarre Carroll. However, one report would be exceedingly positive for both the player and the team if it came to fruition.

Zach Klein of WSB-TV in Atlanta reports that Hawks officials anticipate no structural damage to Carroll's knee.

Carroll went down with what appeared to be a serious knee ailment during the third quarter of a Game 1 loss on Wednesday, and following his exit, many assumed the worst. It must be noted that MRI results will guide the process moving forward, but it is undoubtedly positive that so many indications point to a more minor injury.

Still, even a run-of-the-mill knee sprain and/or hyper-extension would likely cause DeMarre Carroll to miss the remainder of the series. However, that type of result would still be quite positive for Carroll's long-term future, and that reigns supreme at this juncture, even as the Hawks fight for a potential berth in the NBA Finals.
