John Wall injury: Wizards guard to play in Game 5

Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall is active for Game 5 and expected to start.

The Atlanta Hawks have had the benefit of facing a Washington Wizards team without their best player over the last three contests. On Wednesday, however, the visiting Wizards will be at full strength, as All-Star point guard John Wall is on the active list with the expectation that he will start.

Prior to the formal roster announcement, Wall was listed as a game-time decision, but after what appears to be a successful warm-up session, the Wizards have deemed that he is able to go. In addition, Wizards head coach Randy Wittman indicated pregame that Wall would only dress if he was able to play with no restriction on his deployment. Following Game 1, Wall was diagnosed with five non-displaced fractures in his left hand and wrist, and without him, the Hawks have captured two of the last three games to even the series.

The effectiveness of Wall remains to be seen as a result of his physical limitation, but replacing Ramon Sessions and Will Bynum with anyone from John Wall is definitely an improvement if he can function at near-full capacity. Stay tuned throughout the night, but Game 5 just got a lot more interesting.
