The NBA regular season wraps up on Wednesday for the Atlanta Hawks with a trip to the United Center to face the Chicago Bulls. Atlanta's playoff position has been assured for sometime but the Bulls still have a bit to play for on Wednesday. A win by Chicago or a Toronto loss will give the Bulls the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs that begin this weekend. The Raptors hold the tie breaker, so a loss by the Bulls and a Toronto win would elevate the Raptors to the third seed.
The Hawks have made no indications as to how much their starters will play on Wednesday. The team has listed Thabo Sefolosha and Mike Scott as out for Wednesday's game. Scott took a hard fall in Monday's loss to New York and has a back contusion. Pero Antic missed Monday's game with an illness and was listed as questionable for Wednesday's game.
The biggest news for the Hawks was the return of Paul Millsap to practice on Tuesday. The Hawks upgraded Millsap to questionable for Wednesday's game and a decision on whether or not he will play won't likely be determined until shortly before tip off. Millsap has missed the last five games with a shoulder injury. He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore that the shoulder was still tender in some areas.
"I feel OK and we'll see how it goes tomorrow," said Millsap, who would not put a percentage on the health of his shoulder. "Right now I was able to shoot, move around, run but tomorrow may change. ... It's still a little tender in areas."
While Chicago is still pushing to improve its playoff standing, they are dealing with injury issues of their own. Derrick Rose is back in the Bulls' lineup but playing under a minutes restriction and is trying to reclaim his jumpshot. The Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson reports that Chicago has listed Kirk Hinrich as out and Joakim Noah as doubtful for Wednesday's game. HInrich is dealing with a knee injury while Noah is battling tendinitis in his hamstring.
Atlanta has taken both meetings with Chicago so far this season. They won a 93-86 battle at Philips Arena in December and claimed a 107-99 decision at the United Center in January.
