Kings vs Hawks: Pero Antic remains sidelined with ankle injury

The Atlanta Hawks will be without center Pero Antic, as he misses his second consecutive game as a result of an ankle injury.

The Atlanta Hawks will, again, be shorthanded when they take the floor on Monday evening. Unfortunately, this isn't a voluntary instance of simply resting players, as Mike Budenholzer indicated in pregame that Pero Antic will be sidelined against the Sacramento Kings as a result of an ankle injury.

Antic also missed Saturday's game in Philadelphia after exiting Friday's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 32-year-old center played only seven minutes in that contest, and Budenholzer appears to be taking things slowly with the big man given that the Hawks set out on a six-game road trip beginning on Wednesday evening in Denver.

In his stead, Budenholzer indicated that Elton Brand will likely see an uptick in minutes, adding that the veteran's defensive presence could be valuable against DeMarcus Cousins inside. Mike Muscala is also available for deployment, though Coach Bud indicated that Brand would likely get the first call.

On the Sacramento side, head coach George Karl announced that he would be inserting Carl Landry into the starting lineup, with Jason Thompson heading to the bench.

Stay tuned throughout the evening.
