The Atlanta Hawks clinched the No. 1 seed and homecourt advantage in the Eastern Conference playoffs with Friday's win over Miami. With that in hand, it remains to be seen how Mike Budenholzer will approach Saturday's game in Charlotte. With Atlanta currently in a four games in five days stretch, there is a good chance that several players could be looking at an off day in Charlotte.
The Hornets on the other hand have plenty on the line. Charlotte has dropped three straight and are 1.5 games behind the Boston Celtics for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Hornets suffered what could end up being a devastating loss to the Washington Wizards in double overtime on Friday.
Al Jefferson finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds but it wasn't enough for Charlotte who fell for the eighth time in the last 10 games. To make matters worse, forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffered an ankle injury during the third quarter on Friday and did not return. His status for Saturday's game against Atlanta is unknown at this time.
Atlanta and Charlotte have split a pair of meetings this season with the home team emerging victorious both times. Lance Stephenson's buzzer-beater gave the Hornets a 122-119 win back in November. Atlanta bounced back at home with a 105-75 blowout win. The two teams will meet again on April 10 at Philips Arena.
