Hawks vs Heat: Al Horford, Jeff Teague, DeMarre Carroll to sit against Miami

The Atlanta Hawks are deploying a less than full brigade on Saturday.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Hawks will be operating at less than full strength on Saturday evening in Miami.

In fact, that is a gross understatement, as Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Mike Budenholzer has elected to sit Al Horford, Jeff Teague, DeMarre Carroll and Pero Antic against the Miami Heat. With no injuries announced at this time, it appears to be maintenance and rest related for this quartet of players, and Vivlamore reports that Al Horford did not make the trip to Miami.

Both Carroll and Antic appeared to suffer minor ailments during Friday's win over the Orlando Magic, but in the same breath, this screams of a "Pop" decision by Budenholzer to pull the wool over everyone's eyes at this late hour. Dennis Schröder, Kent Bazemore and Elton Brand (!!!) will join Kyle Korver and Paul Millsap in the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see how this undermanned unit performs, especially in a road environment against a Heat team that is also missing Chris Bosh.

Stay tuned.
