Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap will replace Anthony Davis in the Shooting Stars competition at All-Star Weekend. Davis was forced to withdraw from the competition due to a shoulder injury. Millsap will team with former Bulls star Scottie Pippen and Chicago Stars forward Elena Delle Donne. They will face some stiff competition from Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins, who will team up again with Chris Bosh and Swin Cash, and are looking for their third straight Shooting Stars title.
The Hawks will have a heavy influence in many of the other events during All-Star weekend. Dennis Schröder will take part in the Rising Stars Challenge Friday night and was named as an injury replacement for Jimmy Butler in Saturday's Skills Competition. The event's new format features a bracket like competition and Schröder could eventually square off against teammate Jeff Teague who will also compete.
The most anticipated event of Saturday night may be the three-point shootout which features a loaded field including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver among others.
Those events are all a precursor to Sunday's All-Star Game in which Mike Budenholzer and the Hawks coaching staff will lead the Eastern Conference team including Teague, Millsap, Korver and Al Horford against the Western Conference.
