The Atlanta Hawks announced on Wednesday that they have assigned guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and rookie center Walter Tavares to the Canton Charge of the NBA Development League via the flexible assignment rule. Hardaway and Tavares will be in uniform with the team when they travel to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Friday. The Charge return home on Saturday where they will face the Iowa Energy.

Atlanta will host the Lakers on Friday and will then have their first extended break of the season with four straight off days before traveling to Dallas to face the Mavericks on December 9.

The Hawks have been very active over the last two seasons at utilizing the D-League to get players some much-needed court time. Hardaway Jr didn't make his regular season debut until November 24 which began a string of four straight appearances. He has not made an appearance in either of the Hawks last two games.

Tavares has appeared in three games for Atlanta and will be making his second trip to the D-League this season. He played in a pair of games for the Austin Spurs in November and put up big numbers averaging 16 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in 29.3 minutes of playing time.
