The Atlanta Hawks return to action Sunday evening when they take on an Orlando Magic team that has been one of the early surprises in the Eastern Conference. The Magic have a new coach in Scott Skiles and a new attitude so far this season. Orlando has won less than 25 games in each of the last three seasons but currently sit at 15-11 and have won three straight.
The Hawks hope to continue to build momentum after Wednesday's come from behind victory in Boston. Atlanta scored 38 points in the fourth quarter to earn their second straight win. Atlanta struggled from the perimeter against the Celtics going 4 for 20 from three-point range but made up for it by attacking the basket to the tune of 68 points in the paint.
Jeff Teague tweaked his ankle in the third quarter of Wednesday's win and missed the entire fourth quarter. Mike Budenholzer said after the game that Teague could have returned, but they elected to play it safe with Dennis Schröder playing well. Schröder played the final 16 minutes of the game for Atlanta and finished with a team-high 22 points. Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Saturday that Teague's ankle was ok and that he is expected to play against the Magic on Sunday.
Skiles' imprint on the Magic has been quick and they are currently seventh in the league in defensive rating at 98.9. They are 9-4 at the Amway Center and the Hawks had better be ready for a battle if they expect to pull out a victory.
