After an appearance from The Kent Bazemore Show on Saturday evening, the Atlanta Hawks continue to roll along. The team has won seven straight games after a season-opening loss, and on Monday, the Minnesota Timberwolves arrive at Philips Arena looking to snap that streak.
Minnesota has been surprisingly competent in the early going, posting a 3-2 record that would be good for a playoff berth if the NBA decided to stop playing basketball games. Much of their good work has come defensively, where the Wolves are allowing just 93.1 points per 100 possessions, and given the vast defensive talent of players like Ricky Rubio, Andrew Wiggins and number one overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns, that isn't a shock.
Still, the Hawks are the (far) more disciplined and seasoned squad in this contest, and running the system perfection is the best bet for ensuring victory. Atlanta's offense has been cooking over the past two games, with the exception of the first six minutes on Saturday, and while this will be a nice test if Minnesota continues to defend this way, it isn't an insurmountable task.
At some point, the Atlanta Hawks will lose again, but if the team plays well on Monday, the streak will likely remain active. Stay tuned.
