Hawks officially retire Dikembe Mutombo's No. 55 jersey

The Atlanta Hawks officially retired Dikembe Mutombo's No. 55 jersey during halftime of Tuesday's game against the Boston Celtics.

The Atlanta Hawks made it official Tuesday night and retired Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo's No. 55 jersey into the rafters at Philips Arena.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, former Hawks legend Steve Smith and Hawks principle owner Tony Ressler were among those that addressed the Philips Arena crowd during the ceremony.

Afterwards, Mutombo spoke to the media and repeatedly expressed his appreciate to the city of Atlanta and to the Hawks for bestowing him this honour. Mutombo was asked why he decided to make Atlanta his home and his reply was genuine. "I love the A T L."

Congratulations to one of the greatest centers to ever play the game and to an even better person.
