The Atlanta Hawks announced that head coach Mike Budenholzer returned to Atlanta early this morning to deal with a family emergency. Assistant coach Kenny Atkinson will serve as the team's head coach in Friday's game against the Boston Celtics.
Atkinson is the Hawks top assistant and coached the team's summer league entry in Las Vegas. This will be his first opportunity to serve as head coach in an NBA regular season game.
