The Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans engaged in a fun battle on Friday night, with the Hawks prevailing despite a monster night from Anthony Davis. On Wednesday, the two teams get together again, but this time, the match-up shifts to Atlanta.
The Pelicans have not been able to sustain any level of success, but the team did manage to grab its first victory of the year with a 15-point triumph over Dallas on Tuesday. Unfortunately for Alvin Gentry and his team, Davis suffered what the team is calling a bruised right hip during the first half, and the superstar big man sat out the second half as a result. As of the time of this point, no determination has been made about the status of Davis with regard to Wednesday, but that is certainly something to monitor.
Elsewhere, the Hawks will certainly be aiming to avenge what was a wild and uneven performance on Monday. Atlanta came out of the gates playing as poorly as possible against Minnesota, but if the team can replicate its strong showing as part of a second-half comeback, that will translate well against the banged-up Pelicans. In this spot, the Hawks are not on a back-to-back while the Pelicans are, and as we know in the NBA, that certainly matters. As a lineup note, Mike Budenholzer's team could also end up being short-handed, as Jeff Teague's actions from Monday are being evaluated by the league, and many believe he could garner a short suspension that could theoretically begin on Wednesday.
We will be with you throughout the day, and you should keep it locked for all the latest.
