Hawks vs. Pistons preview: Hawks get an early look at their first regular season opponent

The preseason finale is finally here.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

We've made it, folks. The preseason will come to its conclusion tonight as the Hawks take on the Pistons in The Palace. The two teams will have the chance to get a slim look at each other before facing off in Atlanta for their season openers in Atlanta on Tuesday night.

The Hawks come into this one looking to finish with a 5-2 mark. The Hawks are coming off of a narrow 82-81 loss at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night, where Kent Bazemore led all scorers with 18 points, and Al Horford bringing in 14 big rebounds against a great Memphis frontcourt. But tonight, we won't be seeing many of the Hawks that will appear in Tuesday night's matchup.

The Pistons are looking for their third win of the preseason. Their last game was a 5-point loss at home to the Charlotte Hornets, with Andre Drummond scoring 21 points, and pulling in 15 rebounds. Reggie Jackson posted 11 assists for the boy in the Motor City, who are hoping to improve in their second season under Stan Van Gundy.

Most don't find the Pistons to be a great threat to the Hawks in the east, but we won't get a great look at what we will see on Tuesday night, with players likely to rest heading into the start of the season. The Hawks bench should be able to get a nice practice in to warm themselves up for the opener Tuesday night.
