Atlanta Hawks release Terran Petteway

So close.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Per Chris Vivlamore of the AJC, the Hawks have released Terran Petteway, ending the pseudo-battle for the potential 15th spot on the Atlanta Hawks roster.

Per Viv,

While DeQuan Jones and Earl Barron also exist on the Hawks training camp roster, it was expected that either Petteway or Lamar Patterson would get the final spot on the roster, left vacated after Jason Richardson retired. As it stands, it seems Patterson, the Hawks recent second round draft pick, continues to have the inside track.

If you might have looked to last night's game against the Grizzlies for any guidance, none of the combatants for that spot played despite Mike Scott, Walter Tavares, Shelvin Mack and Justin Holiday not getting on the floor as well.
