The Atlanta Hawks will face the Dallas Mavericks in the American Airlines Center in Dallas looking for their fourth win in four tries this preseason. The Mavericks, on the other hand, are trying to get things together before the regular season starts later this month.
The Hawks come into this one seemingly hitting on all cylinders. They are coming off of a 100-86 victory over the revamped San Antonio Spurs, who played without their newest addition LaMarcus Aldridge. Jeff Teague is leading the team in scoring through the first three games at 13.3 points per game, followed by Al Horford's 10.7 points. Paul Millsap has been a monster on the boards, bringing in eight per game.
Dallas' most recent loss came Tuesday at the hands of Oklahoma City, 100-88. John Jenkins, former Atlanta Hawk, had 26 points in that game, and is the leading scorer for the Mavericks his preseason with 20.3 points per game. In fact, Jenkins' scoring has been good enough for 4th in the entire league in preseason play. Preseason aside, it doesn't appear this is one of the Dallas Maverick teams to fear that we have seen in the past.
Only based on preseason averages, the Hawks appear to be better on both sides of the ball, and should manage another decent showing against the Mavericks. Watching the offensive game of Jeff Teague, along with the continued development of Edy Tavares should be things to look for in this one, as well as how the Hawks guard their old teammate in Jenkins.
