The Atlanta Hawks have 14 players with guaranteed contracts for the 2015-2016 season, leaving several players in a battle for exactly one regular season roster spot. With that in mind, the team has reportedly parted ways with two contenders for that role in waiving point guard Edgar Sosa and forward Arsalan Kazemi.

Neither Sosa nor Kazemi (who was released by the Sixers in order to pursue this opportunity in Atlanta) was expected to seriously contend for a regular season spot, and that was reflected in their limited preseason playing time. Both players appeared in just one of the first two preseason games, receiving three (Kazemi) and two (Sosa) minutes of playing time.
With Sosa and Kazemi out of the picture, the Hawks will continue to evaluate Lamar Patterson, Terran Petteway, Earl Barron and DeQuan Jones as the regular season approaches.
