In a move that should shock no one following the NBA, Atlanta head coach Mike Budenholzer has been named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for December.
The Hawks went 14-2 and had the best record in the NBA for the month, setting a record for winning percentage in a month and tying a record of 14 wins in a month, a figure last seen in 1997.
The stretch included road victories over Miami, Brooklyn, Cleveland, Houston and Dallas and big wins at home against the Bulls and Clippers. That stellar play has continued and led to a current record of 25-8, which is (still!) first in the East and third in the league.
