2015 Rising Stars Challenge: Dennis Schröder selected to World Team

Atlanta Hawks second-year guard Dennis Schröder will compete in the 2015 Rising Stars Challenge.

Atlanta Hawks second-year guard Dennis Schröder has been selected to compete in the 2015 Rising Stars Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend. The NBA altered the format for the game that used to feature rookies against sophomore players. The new format will pit U.S. born players against foreign born players. Schröder, a native of Germany, will compete for the World Team.

Here is a look at the complete rosters:

Schröder has excelled in his second season and has emerged as the team's backup point guard behind starter Jeff Teague. He has appeared in 43 games and is averaging 8.1 points and 3.3 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field.

Schröder will be joined in New York by guard Kyle Korver who will take part in the three-point shootout as well as Mike Budenholzer and his coaching staff as they will guide the Eastern Conference team. No Hawks player was voted into the game as starters but Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Korver have drawn mention as possible reserves for the East squad.

Update

Per the AJC's Chris Vivlamore, Hawks assistant Kenny Atkinson will coach the World Team.
