The regular season ended on a low note for the Atlanta Dream who suffered an 84-55 loss to the last place Connecticut Sun. Atlanta will enter the WNBA Playoffs as the top seed in the Eastern Conference but having lost 10 of their last 14 games including five straight on the road.

The Dream's focus was in question from the start as Connecticut shot 60 percent in the opening period to take a 27-20 lead. Connecticut extended their lead to 10 at the half and slammed the door in the third as they outscored Atlanta 24-8. The Dream went just 3-15 from the field and turned the ball over eight times. The deficit grew to as many as 30 points and Michael Cooper pulled his starters early.

Angel McCoughtry played in her second straight game after missing a pair with tendinitis in her feet. She led Atlanta with 10 points on 4-6 shooting in 22 minutes. Atlanta shot just 33 percent from the field for the game and turned the ball over 26 times.

Alex Bentley led the Sun with 19 points while rookie Chiney Ogwumike added 14 points and seven rebounds.

The playoffs will begin for the Dream on either Thursday, August 21 or Friday, August 22 at Philips Arena.
